LRN Update: Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Learning Resource Network (LRN) is keen to ensure its stakeholder network is kept informed as to how it intends to monitor, manage (within its limitations) and remains focused given the recent announcement as to the pandemic nature of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19).
LRN wishes to assure centres it is working with the necessary regulatory bodies and UK health agencies regarding the curtailment of contact with those who are displaying symptoms of the COVID-19 virus.
As of immediate effect (12/03/20), I am restricting LRN’s (office-based staff) contact with external stakeholders. This includes attendance at conferences, seminars, centre audits and centre review meetings. I, along with the Senior Management Team (SMT) are meeting weekly to discuss the ever-evolving situation; I will update stakeholders as the position changes.
Internal exams along with assignment based exams will run as normal. However, there will be some disruption at our exam-based centres (within the UK and Overseas) with regard to speaking, listening, reading and writing exams. In countries where local government has restricted gatherings or congregation of people, including schools, colleges and training centres, we expect there to be some changes to exam schedules.
LRN is in communication with centres and agencies within the UK and Overseas with a view to returning to business as usual as soon as this is permissible. We will keep you informed. Please note, information updates will be made via the portal (www.portal.lrnglobal.org) and via its website (www.lrnglobal.org).
Centres who have booked exams and now need to reschedule or cancel their exams should refer to LRN’s policy on refunds and transfers. This is available via the portal. Please note, LRN will grant additional flexibility in the application of this policy.
Further information is available via www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019 or https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response.
LRN would ask that all centres follow the advice of local government and official institutions. For further advice, please email us at email@example.com.
LRN develops three-dimensional (3D) game app for young learners
Learning Resource Network (LRN) has created a new three-dimensional (3D) application, which allows young learners to boost their confidence and improve their English skills.
The LRN Young Learners’ English (YLE) game will allow the learners to prepare for the LRN YLE tests. The application is interactive, enjoyable but most importantly, instructive in assisting the formative development of cognitive skills. The game will enable learners to test their skills in reading and listening.
The game has eight levels; which increases in difficulty to provide a challenging yet rewarding playing (while learning) experience. The game allows learners to collect digital medals as they progress throughout the levels. The application is available on Android and iOS.
In releasing the application, LRN’s CEO said: ”The panda game app will allow young learners to enhance their skills whilst playing in an enjoyable yet creative way. I hope this will give young learners the confidence to learn English anywhere, anytime, whilst progressing at their own pace”.
YLE Available on the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/young-learners-english/id1493416855?ls=1

LRN Delivers Excellence – Plus Interest – With New Award
In November 2019, Romford based Learning Resource Network (LRN) was delighted to learn that it had been awarded the government accolade of Compliance Plus.
Ahead of the learning curve
Having already gained – and retained – the Customer Service Excellence (CSE) standard (known as the gold standard for customer service delivery), in December 2018, LRN has gone from strength to strength; resulting in the new award for extended efforts in providing outstanding customer service. The Compliance Plus award was welcomed by LRN’s CEO, Muhammad Tariq, who says, ‘The Compliance Plus award means that we have surpassed good customer service to achieve great customer service. We’re particularly pleased with the fact that we gained the award through first delivering on our service promises and providing value for our customers and, secondly, being judged superior to many similar providers in the industry.’
LRN can consider itself in good company as previous recipients of the Compliance Plus award include the library of Liverpool University, UK Engage and Southway Housing.

LRN is pleased to announce that following an extensive application process, it has been approved as an End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) to deliver end-point assessments for the Team Leader / Supervisor at Level 3. Approval was granted on 28/05/2019 from the Institute of Apprenticeships and Technical Education.
End-point assessment (EPA) is the process for assessing an apprentice via a combination of assessment methods. LRN will shortly establish a dedicated website for employers, apprentices and other interested parties. Our website will include information such as the standards, assessment plan, timescales for EPA and a frequently asked questions section.
The Chief Executive Officer for LRN, Muhammad Tariq said: “LRN looks forward to working with its apprentices, employers and partners across businesses. We are committed to ensuring all users will benefit from a first class apprenticeship assessed by highly qualified and knowledgeable industry professionals at LRN.”
